Letter from Carole Waters

Dear Chris,

I would like to tell you how much I appreciate all the time and effort in getting my 92 year old mother tested and fitted for her new hearing aids. It has made a big difference in what she can hear and enjoy in life. After several tries at trying to get my mother to be able to use a hearing aid, my sisters and I had given up.

Mother is staying with me for 7 weeks and she kept saying how much she’d like to be able to use a hearing aid, so I thought this would be a good time to give it one last try, but I was not getting my hopes up.

After Chris tested her, we knew we were dealing with a lot of permanent hearing loss and things could never be “perfect” again, but Chris fitted her for the hearing aid he felt best for her and when she got them, things improved immediately. They fit very well into her ears and are very comfortable to wear. It took her a week or so to get used to hearing her own voice again, but now she enjoys hearing the birds chirp and many other things she hasn’t heard in years.

One of the best things is that they adjust themselves automatically in different settings, like noisy restaurants, church, home, etc. It didn’t take her long to be able to put them in and out by herself and change the batteries too when needed. I’m at the point where I don’t want to even try to have a conversation with her unless she has them in. It’s just not worth the effort.

Thanks again, Chris. We will be forever grateful.

Sincerely,
Carole Waters

Letter from A.R. Spruill

When I started losing my hearing, I went and had it checked out. They told me my hearing was bad in the left ear. I got a hearing aid for it. I had trouble with it over the years and decided not to wear it. I tried several other aids without much success. I was at a meeting where an individual conducting a program on hearing and was impressed with what was presented. I made an appointment with the Healthy Hearing Center. Chris Maher explained what he was going to do. He conducted an extensive hearing exam. After the exam he showed the results on the computer indicating where my problems were. I needed two aids. Since I have been using these hearing aids, I am able to understand people and I hear many sounds that I have been missing over the years. I can wear them all day without any problems or discomfort. I highly recommend this company. The service has been great.

Dear Chris,

It is certainly great to be able to hear normally again. I avoided looking at hearing aids for years simply because I perceived they were not much more than amplifiers that would only increase the noise around me.

Then after my wife had enough of my HUH!, we found an advertisement for “HEALTHY HEARING OF VIRGINIA”. Admittedly, I was a skeptic. In the time it took to accomplish an audiogram, which showed exactly what I already knew, that my high frequency hearing was about 50% gone, I was beginning to feel maybe this would work.

After placing two very “State of the Art” aids in my hearing canals, making the adjustments that the computer indicated, Bette spoke to me. I remember how I always indicated if she was not looking at me, I could not understand her. She was behind me and asked a simple question, which I proceeded to answer. Big deal!!!

Actually it was, since she was two rooms away, and it was like she was speaking directly into my ear at one or two inches away.

Needless to say, hearing at a level very close to normal has made things in my life better, except when the vacuum is running. Then it’s time to remove the aids to enjoy the solitude.

Dear Chris,

I have been wearing XYZ* hearing aids for the past 15 years. It seems I was at XYZ* at least three times a year, for improper fitting, constant ring, could not talk on the telephone, had to buy hearing enhancers to hear the television at a normal volume to keep my husband happy. I no longer have to wear the TV enhancers. I am happy to tell you my new Rhapsody Hearing Aids has eliminated my frustration and my husband is happy. I can talk on the telephone and I have not experienced any whistling and the fit is great.

I want to thank you for your recommendation, I love my Rhapsody 400.

After being told by family that I needed my hearing checked. I made appointments with several different companies to find out what products were offered at each. I evaluated each product and the person that spoke with me. My decision was Nu-Ear and Chris Maher M. Ed, NBC-HIS. Mr. Maher took the time to explain the technology behind the hearing implement. During the hearing test he vocalized words that are hard to understand with hearing loss. When the implement arrived Mr. Maher took the time to make sure that I could understand the spoken words in any saturation. Mr. Maher answered all of my questions without making me feel that he was in a hurry or that the questions were ridiculous. He also said that he did not mind how often that I returned for adjustment. It takes time to adjust to hearing again. I would recommend Chris Maher and Nu-Ear to anyone with hearing loss.

Letter from John C. Robbins, Jr.

Dear Chris,

I recently purchased the Rhapsody hearing system from you… a step in the right direction, as you say. A long time friend, George Marion, had highly recommended you.

To give you my background with hearing systems, I will list them:

  1. Starkey (right & left), not sure of purchase date, warranty expired 11/08/94, $2758.93
  2. Phonak (right & left), February ’98
  3. Oticon (right & left), August ’99, $4000.00
  4. Canta (just one), December ’03, 2 year warranty, $1900.00

Out of all our experience with these hearing systems, yours has far exceeded the others. Your thoroughness and availability has also been superior. Thanks to you and Rhapsody, I’m hearing again, clearer and more comfortably!

Sincerely,
John C. Robbins, Jr.

Letter from Cisco Jablonski

Dear Chris,

As you know I have worn hearing aids for nearly thirteen years. That means I put my first hearing aids inside my ears when I was twenty seven years old, not your normal age for a hearing aid customer. I am forty now and I have seen a lot changes in hearing aids over the years and I am excited to write you this letter.

I hurt much of my natural hearing with head phones and loud music as a kid in the eighties, and being a drummer most of my life did not help either. Years before my first hearing aids doctors suggested that perhaps my hearing loss was hereditary. Regardless of how the need for hearing aids came about for me, the fact that every part of my life was being effected by the loss prompted me to find a solution. I became a student of hearing technology and found much misinformation about hearing aids and their use. I found that not all hearing aids are the same and not all needs are the same for individuals who should have them. Luckily for me, I found individuals like you with an honest intention to help others. Individuals that understood the needs and the sensitive nature that comes with the loss of a natural ability. In the many sets (aids) and changes I have gone through over the years, I can honestly say your direction has helped me hear better than I ever have.

You have have not only given me a better set of ears with my Rhapsody hearing instruments (you ‘re right, these things are NOT hearing aids), you have improved my career and personal relationships by giving me confidence in the fact that my ears will not fail me again. There is not a single environment that I am not comfortable in now that I have these wonderful devices. From hearing what my son is doing in the next room, to going to the movies or even conversation around a crowded dinner table, I hear better than I ever have!

The hearing aid industry over the past decade has made major advances in the way in which the brain and the vibrational make up of sound interact. Your office mirrors these changes and you should be proud knowing that your work is truly helping people by illustrating what happens when technology and compassion come together. YOU ARE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO!

Thank you so much for your hard work and bringing these innovations to light!

Sincerely,
Cisco Jablonski
